Description:The annual Founders Day Celebration at Put-in-Bay will be held in the center of the village at DeRivera Park on Sunday from 11am - 5pm. This free, family-focused island event, is hosted by the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce, and celebrates the founding of Put-in-Bay by Hispanic merchant Jose DeRivera. The celebration begins on Saturday evening with fireworks at dusk. On Sunday, Founders Day will feature live entertainment playing popular tunes by the Rent Party Band in a fair-type atmosphere. The Put-in-Bay EMS will offer ambulance tours as well as the Mini Life Flight ride for kids. The Put-in-Bay Fire Department will feature a new and antique fire engine. Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church will offer pulled pork sandwiches and corn and St. Paul's Episcopal Church will have their yummy strawberry shortcakes. After lunch, you can search for the next addition to your family with our friends from the Ottawa County Humane Society and Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary. There will also be local crafters and jewelery makers selling their wares. The Island Antique Car Parade starts at 2:30 to entertain young and old with antique cars and candy.
