Celebrate Your Founder: Father’s Day at the Bay
He’s your biggest fan. He’s your mentor. He’s always there when you need him. He’s one-of-a-kind. So how do you celebrate someone that’s given you more than you could ever give back? We’ll give you a hint and it’s not a DVD of Point Break, although it is a great movie.
Take him for a day trip to Put-in-Bay for Founder’s Day.
Jose DeRivera, Hispanic merchant and the original founder of Put-in-Bay, and your father have one huge trait in common — they started something great. Just like DeRivera deeded the downtown park’s use for the residents and visitors or Put-in-Bay, your father deeded you for life in general.
On Sunday, June 15th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, DeRivera Park comes alive with kid’s games, food festival vendors, live music, and the Faire Wynds Circus. This old fashioned park fair is one of the community’s oldest events, celebrating 40 years in 2014.
And the food, we can’t forget to mention the delicious food. A roast ox luncheon will be available from the Put-in-Bay Hogroasters and home made strawberry shortcake by the ladies of St. Paul’s Episcopal.
Just for good measure after the celebration, shuffle your dad over to Topsy Turvy Bar & Restaurant for a Brandy Alexander. Just one stipulation though, tell Mike behind the bar we sent you.
