Miller Boat Line 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Walk
at Put-in-Bay, Ohio

The sixth annual Miller Boat Line 5K Run and One Mile Family Fun Walk will be held on the Lake Erie Island of Put-in-Bay on Saturday, September 26, 2009. The runners'  5K will begin at 9:30 AM and the Family Fun Walk begins at 9:15 AM at The Boathouse Bar and Grille, Hartford Ave., downtown Put-in-Bay. Runners and walkers can pre register online at  www.5KatPutinBay.com or at www.hermescleveland.com, or contact Hermes Sports and Events at 216-623-9933. Over 450 runners and walkers are expected to join in this island race this year. Organizers have found that the runners enjoy the scenic waterfront route, and the flat course is ideal for the 1 Mile walkers who simply want to have some healthy, family fun. All proceeds will benefit the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church on Put-in-Bay.

Pre-registration is $18 if made by September 22, or $25 for registration after September 22.  Also a family discount is available for $15 per person, call 216-623-9933 for details.. Race packets will be available at the Boathouse Bar and Grille on Friday, September 25 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. Late registrants can also sign up at The Boathouse between 8:00 - 9:20 AM on race day.

Professionally engraved Lake Erie rocks will be given to the overall male and female winners in the 5K and 1 Mile Walk, to the top 5K male and females in twelve age divisions, and to the top 5K female and male island residents. Long sleeve T-shirts are given to all pre-registrants and while supplies last on day of race. Following the race, bottled water and fruit is available. The awards ceremony, which includes giveaways and prizes, will be held at The Boathouse immediately after the race.

To reach Put-in-Bay, take Miller Boat Line ferries from Catawba at the end of Rt. 53 North off Rt. 2. Miller Ferry offers a runner/walker discount of $10 round trip adult (a $3 savings).
