During the fall/winter of 2009 and 2010, the 96 foot long vessel Put-in-Bay was serviced at Great Lakes Shipyard, Cleveland, Ohio, where a 40 foot steel midsection was fabricated and added to the ferry. Her vehicle capacity grew from about 18 vehicles to approximately 26 vehicles.
